Led by experienced guides, including ecologists, you’ll learn about the region’s diverse plant and animal life, geology, and environmental conservation efforts while enjoying thrilling rapids and peaceful hikes.
Do I need to be an expert in ecology to join the trip?
Not at all! This trip is designed for anyone interested in nature and ecology, regardless of your level of knowledge. Our expert guides will provide clear, engaging explanations about the Canyon’s ecosystems, making it accessible and enjoyable for everyone.
What types of wildlife will I see during the trip?
The Grand Canyon is home to a rich diversity of wildlife, including bighorn sheep, deer, coyotes, and various bird species like hawks and eagles. On this trip, you’ll have the chance to observe these animals in their natural habitats, and your guide will provide educational insights about their behavior and role in the ecosystem.
Will we be doing any scientific research or hands-on ecology work?
While the primary focus is on learning about the Canyon’s ecosystems, there are opportunities for hands-on experiences, like participating in conservation activities or conducting simple ecological observations. This is a chance to connect with nature while supporting its preservation.
How physically demanding is the Ecology Trip?
This trip is suitable for all fitness levels. The motorized rafts make rafting easier compared to traditional rowing, and while there is some hiking to explore side canyons and ecological hotspots, the trip is designed to be accessible to most people, including families and retirees.
What should I bring for the trip?
We provide all the necessary camping gear and safety equipment, but we recommend bringing personal items like a water bottle, sunscreen, a hat, and comfortable hiking shoes. A detailed packing list will be provided upon booking to ensure you're fully prepared.
Can I disconnect from technology during the trip?
Yes! This is an ideal opportunity to unplug and reconnect with nature. There is no cell service, allowing you to fully immerse yourself in the ecology of the Grand Canyon without distractions. Enjoy the serenity of the canyon and focus on the stunning environment around you.
