August in Grand Canyon is notorious for the occasional “Desert Monsoons”…. our afternoon clouds appear like clockwork and build, the shadows formed remind me of a giant condor blocking out the sun as they glide across the sky rim to rim!  August is very photogenic time during our season and most of the time it’s …big water.  The pre-dam true color of the river returns with the tributaries flashing and mudding up of the main stream. The camps cool off from the afternoon clouds and our days are getting shorter………….. those are just a few things that I like about the month of August in the Grand Canyon.
