Kate has been with GCE since 2002, rowing dories for the 14-16 day expeditions.  She has been a boatman since 1980, having worked on a plethora of western rivers.

In her other life, she is a professional photographer, graphic designer and musician.  Kate lives with her husband, Andy Hutchinson, in the tiny mountain town of Dolores, Colorado.  Included in their family are their personal dories,”Cottonwood” and “Skagit” which travel on rivers and tributaries in the upper Colorado River basin.

Andy, Kate’s husband, is also a guide for GCE and they often get to run trips together in the Grand Canyon. Their sweet musical vibe bring an additional magic to your river experience.  We are fortunate to have them as part of our GCE crew.

Kate, behind the oars, just doing her thing! .............................................What is a GCE dory? The dory is a small, shallow-drift boat, about 16.0 to 23.0 feet long. It is a lightweight and versatile boat with high sides, a flat bottom and sharp bows. Wikipedia, encyclopedia
